Erin Kate Burriss (30) was brutally murdered by her friend, Justin Patrick Peter Hill (36) outside the front door of his home, in Dromana, Victoria. The two friends had a complicated co-dependent relationship. On June 9, 2011, Erin Burriss knocked loudly on the front door of 1 Jetty Road, Dromana, where Justin Hill lived with his parents, Ron and Anne Hill, as well as cousin, Gemma Kriening. Gemma and Justin's parents answered the door and saw Erin, who was accusing Justin of destroying her grandmother's wedding photo. The father requested that she leave and closed the front door. Shortly after, Justin confronted Erin outside the home, armed with a knife. Erin took a swing at Justin, to which he responded to by stabbing her multiple times in the side of the head until she was dead. After killing her, he went inside the home, changed his clothes, and sat down at his computer to play a game. His father called 911. At his trial, Justin Hill plead not guilty to murder, but guilty to defensive homicide. Ultimately, he was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 18 years and 6 months on August 20, 2012.

Interesting read. Justin Hill's father would have called 000, as opposed to 911, as 000 is Australia's emergency telephone number.
