1890-2014
Stories of hauntings have come from the now-closed hotel since the late 19th century. A woman named Betsy Ward supposedly died in Room 505, either by her own hand or by murder, depending on the story. Voices have been heard, shadows seen and doors open and close on their own near this room. A sense of being followed also has been reported on the second floor. The strange occurrences supposedly only happen in rooms that were not updated and renovated. In 1990, a manager of the hotel's restaurant was stabbed to death by a dishwasher. In 2014, a fire damaged the kitchen and the hotel subsequently closed. Developers are currently attempting to renovate and reopen the building.
