The body of 15-year-old Tiffany Gayle was found in a tub in the basement of her family home in 2010. An autopsy would reveal that she had died from blunt-force trauma. Tiffany was beaten by both her parents, one using an aluminum baseball bat later found in a shed on a property once belonging to the Gayles, the other using a wooden barbecue tool that was found by police “hidden in plain sight” in the basement kitchen of their home after the murder. Federick, and stepmother, Elizabeth, were arrested three days after the teenager was found dead. The couple were found guilty of first-degree murder. A motive was never clear. However, the parents were planning to send Tiffany back to Jamaica. Her mother had sent her to Canada from Jamaica a year earlier, when she was 14, to live with her father and his wife.
