4-7-2018 50-year-old Howard Thompson was found murdered in the driveway at 5469 N Hartford Place by his wife. Thompson had not returned home and the wife was worried and drove to a secondary residence on Hartford Place. Thompson had been shot and was dead for some time before being discovered. The house at 5469 N Hartford Pl had the appearance that it was burglarized however no forced entry could be found. Lloyd Clemons and Dameon Leathers were identified as suspects in the case. Clemons was arrested shortly after, and Leathers was arrested a month later in Kansas. Clemons originally claimed he believed the house to be empty, and that he did not kill Thompson, stating that he and Leathers found Thompson dead in between two cars in the driveway shortly after robbing the place. However later Clemons testified against Leathers stating that Leathers is the one who pulled the trigger, and Clemons was given a lesser sentence of second degree burglary, resulting in him only receiving a 6 year sentence as opposed to life in prison. Leathers instead received life in prison without possibility of parole. After hearing of his charges, at court, Leathers assaulted a district attorney assistant Kevin Gray with a pitcher of water, until Leathers was tazed and cuffed by police.
