A Melbourne man, aged 63, has been extradited to Sydney and is set to appear in court in connection with the cold-case death of Tatiana Sokoloff, a 56-year-old Italian language teacher at the University of Sydney. Ms. Sokoloff was discovered deceased on the back veranda of her residence on September 6, 1986, located on Dudley Street in Haberfield. A post-mortem examination indicated that she had sustained fatal head injuries and strangulation. The suspect was apprehended in Melbourne and will be formally charged with murder. Detective Inspector Stewart Leggat revealed that the victim had been assaulted during a burglary incident. This previously unsolved case spanning over three decades experienced a breakthrough due to advancements in forensic technology.
