Elderly wife shoots husband in murder suicide. 72-year-old Madeline Smith shot her 77-year-old husband Warren and then turned the gun on herself. Both were found Wednesday by a family member who had stopped by their home to visit. Friends of the Smiths say, Mrs. Smith was battling cancer but was believed to be doing well. Friends say the Smith family had just celebrated Christmas in Farmington a week early.
