Triple homicide. Joan Heaton, 39, and her daughters Jennifer, 10, and Melissa, 8, were stabbed to death in their home. The nature of the killings were especially brutal, with Joan being stabbed 57 times. The youngest daughter, Melissa, was bludgeoned with a kitchen stool and stabbed so viciously that the knife of the blade had broken off in her neck. Marie Bouchard, Joan's' mother, and Mary Lou, Joan's Sister, found the bodies. They had not heard from Joan over the Labour Day Weekend, and went to visit the home. Upon entering, they saw that the interior was splattered with blood. They found Joan's body lying in the hallway under blood-soaked sheets, with Jennifer's body nearby. Melissa was found in the kitchen. Craig Chandler Price was arrested in 1989, and confessed to the killings. He was 15 at the time of his arrest. Price showed no remorse and no clear motive, only saying that he believed racism he was exposed to as a child played a role. After his arrest, Price was also charged with the killing of Rebecca Spencer, 27, who he stabbed 58 times in July 27 1987, inside the living room of her Warwick, Rhode Island home on Inez Avenue in Warwick’s Buttonwoods neighborhood. Spencer lived two doors down from Price, who was only 13 at the time of this murder.
